Sole! Sole! Sole! How to feel like a winner with Footsie Detox

Last week, I came across an interesting little product which reminded me of one of my granny’s favourite sayings: “Look after your feet or it’ll show in your face,” she used to tell her giggling audience.
This week’s Health Store buy is a trial pack of detox patches that you apply to the sole of your feet and leave on overnight, draining toxins from the body while you sleep. Since it sounded painless and easy, I thought I’d look into it a bit further.
The philosophy behind the patches is based on the ancient art of reflexology – the belief that various reflex points on the feet correspond to another part of the body and that by applying pressure (in this case heat from the patches) onto certain points of the feet, sweating (the natural process of expulsion of toxins) is aided an accelerated.
The result should be that you wake up feeling refreshed, which in turn promotes greater equilibrium within the body. But why should a normal healthy person need to detox? The answer lies in our lifestyles. No matter how saintly our routines, there are times when our bodies can become laden with toxins from overwork, lack of sleep, poor diet or too much partying. Breast Cancer does not discriminate

Breast cancer does not discriminate. But with early detection, it can be beaten. Last year, when I interviewed Kylie Minogue, she was the picture of good health. Two weeks later, the story broke that she had breast cancer. My first thought was concern for her and her family. My second: the realisation that her openness would save thousands of lives. An icon like Kylie shows that no woman is untouchable. Regular breast checks are a great tool for detection but now, in Ireland, we have the technology to intercept it much earlier. At the Irish Centre of Integrated Medicine in Naas, Medical Thermography can detect the potential development of cancer 10 years before any other form of testing.
