Detect Breast Cancer Earlier
Thursday, June 21st, 2007
A new technology, which can identify breast cancer 8-10 years before a mammogram, could dramatically change the impact of the disease in Ireland.
Computerised Thermographic Imaging (CTI) is a non-invasive form of breast screening which uses an infrared camera to detect early signs of breast cancer - up to ten years before other procedures.
Although the technology has been around since 1950’s, advances in medical science have seen big developments in recent years. Now it is being used in Ireland to develop a successful breast care program and is generating much interest amongst the medical profession.
