In today’s busy world of convenience foods and super pubs there are few of us who haven’t picked up an unwanted toxin or two along the way. Detox is one of the buzzwords of the minute and while there are countless options available there are none as detailed and accurate as allergy testing using the bio-energetics system.
When used by a practitioner it can help diagnose ailments, pinpoint areas of stress and come up with a lifestyle plan to promote and sustain healthy living. Stylefile went along to the Irish Centre of Integrated Medicine - the first of its kind in Ireland - in Monread, Naas to see what it was all about.
Practitioner Jean FitzGerald - one of the leading experts in this field in Europe - introduced the concept of Bio-resonance in Ireland and her services have been much in demand ever since. “I would say this is the most accurate method of diagnosis I have ever seen,” she said. “I have had 95 to 98 per cent accuracy with it so that speaks for itself.” The Bio-energy device designed for stress detection and reduction - is calibrated to measure subtle electrical reactions to biological and medical substances. Using metal conductors around the client’s head, wrists and ankles, its sensitivity is set so fine as to pick up the earliest signs of disease and distress. Jean typically spends 45 minutes assessing a client before beginning the procedure. She suspected digestive problems in my case (including a wheat intolerance known as candida), and her suspicions were borne out by the results of the test.
Jean could then advise on diet, supplements and other lifestyle changes to purge the system and counteract imbalance. Only a computer can calculate the vast quantities of information - over 65 million bits of date - processed during the test. Each patient’s reaction to 20 samples of a low reactive distilled water and samples of toxic sugar and insecticide - the highest known reactive substance - is measured at the outset. Then follows screening for vitamins, minerals and toxicity as well as certain nutritional groups. Each area of the body is looked at the minute detail and an appropriate course of action or treatment can be diagnosed.
The 90 minutes consultation costs €80 but its worth in terms of assessing an individual’s health and well-being is immeasurable. ICIM can be contacted at 045 883224 or by their website: www.icim.ie
Other services available at ICIM include:

Integrated Medicine Centre is the first of its kind in Europe
Tuesday, November 9th, 2004
The first centre in integrated medicine in the whole of Europe has opened in Naas. The Irish Centre of Integrated Medicine (ICIM) based at Monread Avenue is the very first of its kind in Europe and has already built up a solid reputation in its first six months of operation. The centre focuses on natural and alternative medicine and treatments and practitioners work in tandem with mainstream medical practitioners.
Each of the 15 practitioners based at the centre focuses on particular aspects of treatments, physical, mental and or emotional difficulties. The centre also provides a unique testing service to patients who require full blood test, hormone test, liver functions or allergy testing. Traditionally patients having standard tests such as blood tests done often wait for up to two weeks for results. The ICIM provides the patient and local GPs access to results within one or two days and some test results can be determined while the patient waits.
Felipe Reitz and Jean FitzGerald, the centre directors believe that this speedy method allows for more efficient and effective treatment of patients. “The testing that we do here allows us to determine necessary treatments almost immediately,” said Felipe. “Because we can give speedy prognosis the patient’s treatment can begin earlier and traditional medical testing such as a standard blood test at the end of the treatments will show how effective the natural treatment has been. This is very useful for research purposes.”
The 23 different types of treatments available at the centre include acupuncture, Qi Gong or Chi Kung, cranial osteopathy, allergy testing, homeopathy, osteopathy, reflexology, reiki, neuro linguistic programming, counselling, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy. Jean FitzGerald, a homeopath and bio-resonance practitioner, works closely with traditional general practitioners who often refer their patients to the centre for treatment. Jean currently attends her Mayfair practise in London monthly and has held clinics at Harley St. as well as at the world famous Hale Clinic which treated celebrities such as Tina Turner and the late Princess Diana. Jean started her own training with Dr. Harold Gaier - one of the top naturopaths in Britain - at the hale Clinic. Jean is now considered to be the top specialists in allergy testing in Ireland.
A graduate of biology, science and the power of natural herbs and flowers has always been a passion of Felipe and his family. Felipe’s granduncle Raulino Reitz was one of the most famous botanists in the world and is accredited to the discovery of over 700 different types of orchids. Felipe also spent 12 years working in the field of martial arts, which directed him towards acupuncture. His unique approach to treatment allows him to combine methods of medical Qi Gong - an ancient art of self -healing - with acupuncture.
