Health is ease of flow. Health is a flow of items into and out of the body. We intake nutrients, air,
water, minerals, amino acids, fats, carbohydrates, thoughts, ideas, friendship, love, respect, mental stimulation, spiritual stimulation,
and a host of other nutrients. We detox and excrete urine, breath, exhale, stool, mucus, sweat, menses, bad feelings, fixations, addictions,
coercions, intimidations, fetishes, manias, compulsions, spiritual doubts and a host of excretions. Life is a cycle of intake, chew,
absorb or reject, assimilate, produce toxins, detox, and start anew.
This is the need to survive. All of this results in a very
complex flow of energies in and out, in cycles.
The levels of the person are the body, mind, spirit, social, and environmental.
It is impossible to separate these or to know where one starts and another stops. Thus these parts cannot be reduced or analyzed separately.
When there is ease of flow of things in these levels the person is in health. Health is ease of flow.
In an ever-toxic society,
our bodies need to detox more and more. Detox of stool, sinus, menses, urine, sweat, etc. Excess Detox can be seen as a symptom. Diarrhea,
excess sweat, smelly urine, excess menses, sinusitis, skin rash, etc can result from excess toxicity.
The body stores foreign
substances and toxins in its fatty deposits. In many cases patient’s can carry up to 10 pounds or more of unhealthy mucus-harboring
toxic waste.
For a time, the body works hard, struggling to protect itself from noxious toxins. It does so by accumulating this
waste into balls of mucus or fat. However, with continued build up of toxicity the body can no longer cope which results in the actual
seeping of toxins directly into the blood stream, into cell membranes, disturbing metabolic function and causing tissue damage.
It
is difficult to avoid exposure to toxins in today’s society from pesticides spray onto the food we eat, preservatives, antibiotics
injected in chicken and pork, hormones such as estrogen traces found in chicken and beef. Even our own drinking water is open to toxicity
such as aluminium, hormones etc.
The most insidious toxins are actually, not seen, invisible, leaving
us unaware as to the grave risks. But how to know what toxin or pathogen is involved has always been the problem.
Diagnostic
testing devices such as Nutritional Blood Analysis and Bio-resonance testing offers support on this level as it can provide both patient
and practitioner to help focus the treatment of detoxification more specifically to e.g. the elimination of chemicals, heavy metals,
yeast or bacterial overgrowths etc. It can also highlight which organs appear to be in distress and therefore allowing a specifically
tailored prescription of herbs, homoeopathy, nutritional and dietary advice.
Some detox tips to help get you started:
• Dietary
changes
Foods to avoid Allowed
Sugar Fruit and vegetable juices
Wheat Bottled
water
Dairy Raw food/sprouts/greens
Reduce caffeine Fruits, vegetables, whole grains
(except wheat),
Reduce alcohol legumes, seeds
Reduce fried food
• Exercise – introduce some gentle exercise into
your routine such as walking, stretching, swimming, dancing, medical qi gong, or tai chi.
• Drink plenty of still bottled
or filtered water. 4-6 glasses of luke warm water per day.
• Breathe – remember how to breathe! Oxygenation is the most
vital component of life, it is responsible for feeding the blood and cells, it also detoxifies the organs and glands and can kill
bacteria and viruses. Medical qi gong is an excellent way of improving your breathing techniques and a practitioner of this art can
design a breathing exercise specifically for your complaint. Otherwise, when out doing your gentle exercise don’t forget to breathe
correctly.
• Skin brushing – dry skin brushing accelerates the rate at which toxins are expelled from the body, because it motivates
blood cells and lymph tissue, two of the body’s main routes of detoxification.
• Fruit & Vegetable Juicing – try to introduce
juicing into your routine at least once per week. This is a great way to get nutrients into your system.
• Liver
& Kidney Support – These two organs are largely responsible for the elimination and drainage of toxins from the body. Under the
supervision of a practitioner care and consideration should be taken to select an herb that can assist this process. Herbs such as
Berberis Vulg, Milk Thistle, and homoeopathic remedies such as sulphur and nux vom often help to stimulate the process of detoxification.
• Cravings –
can often be a sign of foods that you may be allergic or sensitive to, a sign of microbial activity in the gut, or imbalanced blood
sugar levels. Chromium picolinate can help to not only balance blood sugar levels but also reduce the appetite, but also help prevent
excess sugar from being converted by the body into fat!
A detox can be done for a period of time as short as 7 days to as long
as 1 month or even longer. It really depends on your objectives and determination. The longer the better really, however, if
you do decide to conduct a detox for a longer period of time it would be advised to have a practitioner oversee your progress and
help design a program according to your needs.
The healing crisis is often experienced by detox goers, so if you experience
headaches, mood swings, diarrhea, constipation, dip in energy etc. these are not uncommon, but bear in mind that they will pass (3-5days)
and some of the conditions that very often improve as a result of detoxification include: raised energy levels, greater sense of well
being, improvement in skin, hair, nails, pms, digestive problems, headaches, poor memory, depression, insomnia, reduction in weight,
joint pain, allergies, bad breath, bloating, constipation etc.
