Blood Glucose

What is it?

The ICIM blood glucose test tells you if your body is regulating your blood sugar levels properly.

What do you use this for?

ICIM use this test to determine if you are a diabetic, and to monitor diabetics blood sugar levels.

Why should I have it done?

You should have your blood sugar monitored regularly to ensure you are not developing diabetes. If you are already a diabetic, you should be testing your blood sugar levels before every meal, and at bedtime.

Why should I have it done at ICIM? What is the difference between the blood glucose machine at ICIM and elsewhere?

At ICIM you experience a nice, relaxing experience with a friendly nurse to ease you into the test. At ICIM you won’t have to wait for your Blood Glucose Test, if you have an appointment you will be seen at that time, no waiting, no fuss! At ICIM you are not just a number to be processed, you are a valuable patient with individual needs. Because Blood Glucose tests at ICIM are by appointment only your advantages are:

·  No waiting in a busy waiting room surrounded by sick people.

·   No stress at being late for another appointment

·  Adequate time allocated to you to ensure a quality test

What are the costs and protocols?

Blood Glucose tests are free if you are an existing ICIM otherwise it costs €10.

When you are comfortably seated in the nurses’ room, you will be asked to wash your hands thoroughly. A small needle will prick your finger to draw a small drop of blood. This drop of blood is then collected onto a special blood glucometer. Your result will be ready in 30 seconds.  This procedure is quick and easy. There are no side-effects.

How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment you can call on 00353 45 844819 or email: info@icim.ie anytime. Clinical hours are between 9am – 6 pm, Monday - Friday. Visit us at: Irish Centre of Integrated Medicine, St. Johns Grove, Johnstown, Naas, Co. Kildare (See Map). Or visit our website: www.icim.ie

What do I do with the results?

Your Results are your own. You may wish to bring them to your own GP or practitioner (if you do not have a doctor or practitioner Click Here), or you can arrange to see an ICIM medical doctor.

Do I need follow ups?

Your blood glucose should be monitored regularly. Follow ups are recommended to evaluate treatment effectiveness.
